My name is Vera and I was born in the Netherlands. I have always had an insatiable hunger for exploring and understanding life and human psychology. This hunger to explore, initially led me to travel the world, learn from nature, and dive into the teachings of Eastern and Western philosophers. Even though this brought me great experiences and food for thought, it could never quite soothe my searching soul. It was not until my mid-20s, when I found myself stuck in an abusive relationship, recovering emotionally from an abortion, and caught in a job that suited my resume but not my heart, that I was forced to explore my inner world. It was captivating and made so much sense that the answers I was looking for, only could be found in me. This meant the start of a different journey, that was not leading me to faraway places or ideas but was bringing me home to me. It also meant the start of turning my passion into my profession. Every time it is an honor to travel with someone on their personal road, and help them uncover their own answers. My heart every time gets filled when that happens.

 

With much gratitude I honor my first Inner Work teacher Eline Brinkhof, whose skillfulness and wisdom is still guiding me in my work today. Over the years I have worked in several countries as a counsellor (The Netherlands, South Africa and Australia). My diverse training, background and experience with different cultures, allow me to draw from a wide range of interventions and approaches to suit the individual needs.

In 2019, we have been fortunate to settle in a beautiful area in the Mid North Coast, New South Wales. When I am not working as a counsellor, I love to spend time with my family, in the veggie garden and with the animals on our little farm.
